Yesterday I wrote that "Arrested Development" is the funniest show on television. That got me thinking. What are the funniest prime time shows? Here's my top 5 list. Post your own list in the comments.
As Frank Strovel III implied in a comment last night , "Scrubs" deserves a spot on the list of funniest shows when it finally comes back on the air. It's possible that "Curb" will have finished its season by the time "Scrubs" returns, which means I won't have to bump a show off the top 5 list. It's also possible that "Arrested Development" could be canceled by then, which would be a comedy tragedy.
What other shows am I missing? What are your top 5?

Frank, I have tried but I just can't see the appeal of "Arrested Development." I find it mildly amusing. Don't have HBO, so no "Curb." I enjoy "Office" but don't feel a burning need to watch. Had high hopes for "Earl" (love Jason Lee), but it was just OK. "Chris" is on against "Survivor" and "The O.C.," and I have only two TVs. "Scrubs," when it's on, is the only sitcom I TiVo. That said, I find many segments of "Rescue Me" to be the funniest material on television.

I'm juggling 4 shows on Thursdays at 8pm. I have to use both TiVos and the old VCR to record "Smallville," "Survivor" and "Alias." I watch "Everbody Hates Chris" in real time.
I will stand by my praise of "Arrested Development" and "Curb Your Enthusiasm." "My Name is Earl" and "The Office" are good but still finding their legs.
Any great movies coming soon?

Now that it's over a year later (12/21/06), I think "The Office" has become the best show on television.
